Honey Glazed Ham

Recipe adapted from: Grandbaby Cakes

Looking for a show-stopping main dish for the holiday season? A honey glazed ham is a classic centerpiece that’s both flavorful and easy to prepare. The rich, savory ham is complemented by a sweet, sticky honey glaze, making it the perfect dish to impress your guests.

What you will need:

  • 1 fully cooked ham (about 8-10 pounds)

  • 1 cup honey

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar or orange juice

  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves (optional)

How to make it:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a roasting pan with foil for easy cleanup.

  2. Prepare the Ham: Place the ham in the roasting pan, cut side down. Score the surface in a diamond pattern with shallow cuts to help the glaze penetrate.

  3. Make the Glaze: In a saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar or orange juice, and ground cloves (if using). Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the glaze is smooth.

  4. Glaze and Bake: Brush the ham with about half of the glaze. Cover the ham loosely with foil and bake for about 1½ to 2 hours, or until heated through (140°F internal temperature). Baste with more glaze every 30 minutes.

  5. Caramelize the Glaze: For the last 15–20 minutes of cooking, remove the foil and brush the ham with the remaining glaze. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) to allow the glaze to caramelize.

  6. Rest and Serve: Let the ham rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

For a personalized touch, try adding citrus zest, a pinch of cayenne, fresh herbs, or maple syrup, and even incorporating fruit preserves or smoked paprika for unique flavor variations!
